Over $40,000 Distributed by Local FEMA Board to Support Food Needs in Dubuque

OVER $40,000 DISTRIBUTED BY LOCAL FEMA BOARD TO SUPPORT FOOD NEEDS IN DUBUQUE

The Dubuque County Local Board for Emergency Food and Shelter Program awarded over $40,000 to food-related programs in Dubuque County.

 

A local board comprised of representatives from United Way, Red Cross, Hawkeye Area Community Action Agency, Homeless Advisory Coalition, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Dubuque, Opening Doors, The Salvation Army, Dubuque Area Congregations United, Temple Beth-El, Dubuque County Supervisors, and local labor groups distributed funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Emergency Food and Shelter Program.

 

The following nonprofit organizations received funding:

  • Dubuque Food Pantry: $10,000
  • Dubuque Area Labor Harvest: $10,000
  • The Salvation Army: $10,000
  • Dubuque Dream Center: $3,890
  • Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging: $3,890
  • Opening Doors: $1,000
  • Lord of Life Church: $1,000
  • United Way Administrative: $812
  • Total Distributed: $40,592.00

 

“During this time of great need, these funds can make a big impact for those non-profit organizations who are helping feed our community,” says Danielle Peterson, President/CEO of United Way of Dubuque Area Tri-States. “We are grateful to be able to support eight local nonprofits who are working day after day to make sure no one goes hungry in Dubuque County.”
